Title: Beneath the Howling Stars
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Characters: Vincent x Tifa
Rated: PG-13

Summary: This one was for Lunarblade Valentine. I wanted to write something that captured every sense and gave the reader a sense of movement. There is a lot of motion in this fic, a lot of slowing down and speeding up. A bit of internal voice, but not as much as what is going on between the two and outside of them.

And while a lot of readers told me, "How pretty," "Very sensual," and "OMG that was HOT!"... I really didn't get the sense that many people caught the symbolism that was tied up in there.

I went into great detail describing the wooded area; the ground, the halls of old trees, fingers stretching to the sky to block out the moonlight. And the blossom, that did seem out of place, did it not?

Simply put? Tifa is the moon, and Vincent (or what is left of him) is the red flower. The trees are the memories he's set up for himself, frozen in time. Their roots, his past transgressions, having choked out everything else in the clearing. Their branches, trying desperately to choke out the moonlight. But who is standing in the middle of the light? Tifa. And he is searching her out. [ff.net link]

Vincent has his kinks. )
